Carl tattooed me with his new rotary tattoo machines a few days ago. He did about 2 hours worth of tattooing in just barely over an hour. It was amazing how fast the pigment went into my skin.
He packed in solid black with opaque grays, filled in some yellow spots and blended two shades of purple into large areas. The machines were very unforgiving since there's really no spring to push back on. Even so, in the few areas were he allowed the needles to go quite deep my skin is showing no signs of being overworked at all.
I'm extremely impressed with Carl's first attempt at using the rotary machines...I really can't tell the difference in the black shading fades or the solid areas from work he previously did using standard coil machines...except that the healing is going much smoother and quicker.
Overall, I like the speed...the amount of work he got done in so little time. I have to admit that it did hurt more, but not that much more. The trade-off between speed and pain is about equal, but the healing is taking it over the top in favor of the rotary.
I'll add a couple pictures of the tattoo soon.
